New Image is more than just a name for the Dallas, Texas-based shop. Not only will co-owners Sean Flowers and Tom Jackson and crew build a “new image” for a client’s vehicle, they also offer access to the constantly expanding automotive lifestyle.
“If a customer came to talk to us, they would get the understanding immediately that we’re a company that’s extremely forward-thinking,” said creative director Marcus Willis. “You can look at a magazine and see things, but to truly get something for your lifestyle, you may not see it exactly… We possess that ability because we can build something that is out of the box, and put you in places that you normally wouldn’t be.”
Flowers and Jackson founded the company in 1988, during the summer after their senior year in high school. Flowers asked Jackson how they were going to make money after graduating, and suggested that the pair sell cars. “We got our dealer’s license and started selling cars,” Flowers said. “From there, it kind of dominoed.”
Flowers and Jackson went on to work on other cars while still in college, meeting different people and getting more requests to do different things, to the point that when they finished school, they continued working on cars. From a small office to a small shop and now a 25,000-square-foot facility, New Image grew.
