So, you’d like to rocket across all kinds of terrain at excessive speeds, to take sand dunes in massive leaps and come down gracefully, to plow through mud at triple-digit speeds…and you’d like to bring along friends.
Ford hears you.
The SVT Raptor (read “the most insane pickup truck ever built”) has been on the market for a full year now. It’s due for a second edition soon.
The 2011 Raptor, we’ve learned, will have the same comically over-engineered suspension that made the original a legend. It also gains two doors, with a crewcab version that is 12 inches longer than the original.
It loses something, too. The 5.4-liter V8 will no longer be available. In 2011, you can buy a Raptor only with the more powerful 6.2-liter V8. A new color, called Ingot Silver Metallic, and a new set of matte black hood graphics will also be offered.
