What’s Cooler than a 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG with Gullwing doors hinged at the roof? Why a 2012 Mercedes-Benz AMG without the roof, period. Introducing the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG roadster.
The roadster version of the Mercedes will not only give those mid-life crisis toupees a chance to breathe, but will quiet the few critics who have been less than enthusiastic about the gullwing setup of the coupe. Don’t get me wrong, the gullwing’s are cool, but there is some advantage to ditching them…
For one you won’t have to leave the doors up to enjoy the smell of rubber during those early morning burnouts.
But more importantly, not much else will be changing for the SLS. It will still have the same fundamental go fast hardware, including the 560 horsepower 6.2-liter V8 and 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The final rendition is reportedly gearing up for its unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show next year, but we can still enjoy a couple of minimally camouflaged spy photos in the meantime.
