The 50th Anniversary of Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona

The Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona is a grueling race on the 3.56-mile road course at Daytona International Speedway (Daytona Beach, FL) that tests both man and machine. However, this didn’t stop celebrity racecar drivers from competing in this marathon against the best drivers from every corner of the globe.
Music producer Jim Jonsin and his Rebel Rock Racing team finished 24th overall in their No. 8 Porsche 997 in a field of 81 cars in the GS/ST class of the 2.5-hour Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. “Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey and his Dempsey Racing team competed in the Rolex 24 Hour race in their No. 40 Mazda RX-8 that finished 11th in the GT class, while X Games superstar Travis Pastrana switched driving duties with NASCAR great Michael Waltrip finished 22nd in their No. 56 red AF-Waltrip Ferrari 458. But the toast of the town was long shot Michael Shank Racing, winning the Daytona Prototype class in the No. 60 Ford-powered Riley Grand-Am DP racecar driven by John Pew, Oswaldo Negri Jr., Justin Wilson and anchored by A.J. Allmendinger.
