Every year, Las Vegas, NV plays host to the most anticipated automotive aftermarket expo in the world, the SEMA Show, which brings together tuners, car customizers and countless enthusiasts to showcase their latest and greatest products and builds. The 2012 SEMA Show (from October 30-November 2) proved that the industry is recovering dramatically after being hit hard after the recession tightened everyone’s pockets in 2008. With attendance numbers up for both visitors and exhibitors, this year’s show at the Las Vegas Convention Center featured nothing but the hottest custom rides, most innovative aftermarket parts and, of course, the after show parties.
Highlights from the show included: a slew of street-and off-road-ready Jeeps, such as LeBron James’ gold Jeep JK Wrangler built by Ultimate Auto; more than 50 customized versions of the new Scion F-RS and Subaru BRZ models; La Reina, which was crowned “Lowrider Truck of the Year”; Snoop announced his collaboration with Mister Cartoon’s Sanctiond car care line; and the debut of the 2013 DUB Edition Toyota Avalon, which was showcased with Toyota!
DUB LIVE! was the final stop in the 2012 DUB Show Tour, and it was a massive outdoor arena outside of the convention center’s South Hall, which showcased a wide variety of custom cars, trucks, SUVs, exotics, Lowriders, motorcycles and more—all in DUB style, in addition to some of the coolest and most interactive booths around!
The centerpieces of this year’s DUB LIVE! display were provided by Platinum Motorsport, who came out with their painted fleet, consisting of a kitted-out matte white Rolls-Royce Phantom coupe, a matte rootbeer brown and orange Rolls-Royce Phantom, their freshly painted BMW M5, a bright matte orange Porsche Panamera with a a full Mansory kit, a slammed Audi A8 and their mudereded-out MacLaren SLR Roadster.
The front apron also featured a fleet of Forgiato’s custom vehicles, widebody Benzes and Camaros from TS Designs, Jonari’s Rolls-Royce Ghost dressed in the new Wald kit, Lexani’s fleet of custom rides and RBP trucks and a chromed-out Mastretta. Seattle Mariners’ ace Felix Hernandez displayed his Porsche Cayenne Turbo by MC Customs and Savini Wheels, while Pauly D’s newly built custom Kawasaki Ninja by Killer Kreations and Unknown Customs was also on display.
Across the way in the main section of DUB LIVE! at SEMA was a collection of displays from Chevy, DONZ Wheelz, eBay Motors, Foose Designs, Forgiato, MHT Luxury Alloys, Mobil 1, Mothers, Optima Batteries, Pioneer, Pirelli, Savini Wheels, SONY, Spyder, Styluz, Toyo Tires and Ultra Wheel, which collectively made for a great show!
Our annual DUB Expo was held on Halloween night at Tao Nightclub inside the Venetian Hotel and Casino. It was a packed event, filled to capacity, with entertainment coming from DJ Quik (dressed in a vampire costume) and Kirko Bangz, while DJ Eric D Lux provided the night’s soundtrack. Before the party were the DUB Awards, presented by Mobil 1, which celebrated the industry’s best. Aside from all our industry friends and colleagues, UFC fighter Rampage Jackson showed up to the party, while the Monster Energy girls strutted their stuff in their Monster Energy attire.
Winners for the night were:
Best Car Dressed on Pirelli Tires - Rafel Ramirez’s 2008 customized Chevy Tahoe sitting and tucking 28” wheels
