T-Pain
It’s always fun to revisit some of our favorite artists, and T-Pain is definitely one of them! Not only is he fun to hang with, but he’s always down to talk shop, so we were excited to see what the Nappy Boy Entertainment CEO added to his fleet of rides since we last touched base with him for his cover feature in Issue 66 back in 2010.
DeSean Jackson
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is a trooper and steadily maintained his position as one of the team’s key players, even after a tough injury toward the end of the season. Back in November, during a Monday night battle against the Panthers, Jackson fractured his ribs, keeping him sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Pauly D
It’s another typical weekend in Las Vegas and party goers at Vanity Nightclub inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino are amped up on drinks in anticipation of witnessing one of DJ Pauly D’s notorious sets. The opening DJ closes his set and Pauly D takes his place behind the turntables. Once changing of the DJ guards is done, Pauly D drops his first song and welcomes everyone to the club.
B.o.B
Multi-talented artist B.o.B (born Bobby Ray Simmons, Jr.) is a musical phenomenon. Not only can he play numerous instruments (including the piano, trumpet and guitar), but also has successfully been able to create his unique sound that fuses hip-hop, R&B, rock and pop into a cornucopia of amazing music that appeals to a vast audience. One could pinpoint his moment of success when his first single, “Nothin’ on You,” hit radio airwaves, propelling the Atlanta, GA musician into global fame with millions of adoring fans, but he thinks otherwise.
Travis Barker
Many purely think that tattoos are about self-expression, but for Travis Barker its deeper than that. As a walking canvas that vividly depicts various memories of family and friends, each telling a story about his life, Travis finds it hard to pick out a favorite since each one means something different. But he does mention that his passion for tattoos helped propel him to become the popular musician he is now.
Vinny Guadagnino
While some might keep their addiction to MTV’s “Jersey Shore” a secret indulgence, we’re totally open to the fact that we watch it. And we’ll continue to watch it until MTV decides to pull the plug on the cultural phenomenon reality show that has changed our lives since it first aired back in 2009. We like it so much that we’ve already checked out several cast members’ garages and needed its youngest male housemate, Vinny Guadagnino’s ride, to make it complete!
Brian Deegan
It takes a lot of faith to leave the familiar behind for new and uncharted territories, especially when you’re chasing a dream. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines faith as having “complete trust,” “something that is believed especially with strong conviction,” and “a firm belief in something for which there is no proof.” None of these definitions are easy to grasp which is what makes faith such a complex and abstract notion, yet something that is innate in us all.
Lupe Fiasco
“My biggest secret up until today was how deeply I’m into cars,” he replies when asked about what his fans may not already know about him. He’s been a prominent figure in hip-hop since he dropped his first solo album, Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor, back in 2006, so he’s had more than his fair share of media scrutiny. “I’m big into cars and car culture—from understanding, studying, driving and researching everything in the automotive world.”
Mister Cartoon
Set up in a warehouse in the arts district in Downtown Los Angeles is Mister Cartoon’s headquarters, complete with his tattoo parlor, man cave and two garages filled with his rides (one for display and the other housing his latest works in progress). The man of many talents is working on a custom van for the Vans Warped Tour when we arrive for his interview—one that’s long overdue, but well worth the wait. Renowned in the world of tattoo culture for his legendary black and grey fine-line style, his skin art that graces the bodies of celebrity names like Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Eminem, Travis Barker, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Nas, Cypress Hill , Carlos Boozer and a slew of other very impressive celebrity clients.
Travis Pastrana
Travis Pastrana is the poster boy of action sports, excelling at everything he does—whether it’s motocross, supercross, freestyle motocross or rally racing. No matter what he does, Pastrana always seems to come out on top, making one wonder if he’s just one of those guys who’s naturally gifted at everything or if he’s perfected his skills over the years with lots of hard work and determination to add more achievements in his on-going list for his brag book.
Vaughn Gittin Jr.
Meet Vaughn Gittin Jr. One of the most intense motorsport drivers in the world! In the sport of drifting, Gittin reigns supreme with his pedal-to-the-metal aggressive driving style as he takes turns like no other and pushes the limits to his Monster Energy Falken Tire Ford Mustang RTR. The self-taught professional drifter from Annapolis, Maryland has built quite the reputation on the track, something he’s worked hard over the years to accomplish. While working a 9-5, he’d put all his free time into his drifting career, spending hours on self-promotion and practice to get to this point in his career. Now the 2010 Formula Drift champion has numerous accolades under his belt and continues to strive for more, while simultaneously committed to advancing the sport worldwide.
Mac Miller
At only 20 years old, Mac Miller is seriously living the dream…his dream to be exact. The rising MC from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is causing all types of commotion in the hip-hop world. For the summer, he’s joined forces with fellow Pittsburgh rapper, Wiz Khalifa, for their “Under the Influence of Music Tour” and emerged victorious at this year’s MTV’s Woodie Awards back in March (which celebrates emerging musicians) by taking home the Woodie of the Year. These are some pretty big accomplishments for an artist who barely took his freestyling career seriously only five years ago, when he was 15.
