FROM ADULT STARDOM TO CHECKERED FLAGS: MICK BLUE'S RACING EVOLUTION
This Austrian-born speed demon is tearing up tracks and turning heads in the spec racing world.

The sleek BMW E46 330i sits low to the ground, its aggressive stance accentuated by the competition-spec suspension and massive Rex rubber meeting the pavement. The vibrant paint scheme with neon yellow accents doesn’t just look sharp—it’s functional art in motion. Behind the wheel is a man whose racing journey is anything but conventional: Mick Blue, a 48-year-old Austrian transplant whose passion for speed has taken him from adult film sets to podium finishes.
THE ULTIMATE DRIVING DEDICATION
“Racing, for me, is almost like meditation,” Blue explains as he walks us through the details of his 2001 BMW E46 330i race car. “You’re in the car, you have the helmet on, the noises are tempered… you get in your zone and it feels very relaxing in a way.”
But don’t let the zen talk fool you—there’s nothing chill about Blue’s approach to competition. The 11-year racing veteran competes primarily in the spec E46 class, a tightly regulated series where all competitors run nearly identical setups to keep things cost-effective while maximizing driving skill.
“All the cars are the same,” Blue explains. “We have specific regulations to keep the budget in check and give every contender the ability to reach the maximum out of the car cost-effectively.”
The specs are exacting; limited to 225 max horsepower from three dyno pulls, a minimum weight of 2,850 pounds with the driver, and identical tire compounds across all competitors. This year, the series switched to Hoosier RCES 245/40/27 tires—a new compound that Blue says delivers impressive consistency and longevity.
Inside the stripped-down interior sits a full roll cage, fire suppression system, and the five-point harness that keeps Blue firmly planted during the extreme G-forces of competitive driving. Almost every unnecessary component has been removed in the pursuit of maximum performance – except the googly eye stickers on his steering wheel.
FROM SCREEN TO SPEED: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY
What makes Blue’s racing career particularly fascinating is his background. For 25 years, he’s been a heavyweight in the adult entertainment industry, appearing in over 3,500 films and winning numerous awards. Yet his passion for speed and competition has always been present.
“I’ve always been setting myself new goals,” Blue tells us. “The adult industry has been a great part of my life—I’ve been doing it for more than half my lifetime. But racing has become a great part of my future.”
The transition began nine years ago when Blue’s wife gifted him a three-day racing school experience at Laguna Seca for his 40th birthday. That led to a racing license, which opened the door to competitive driving.
“In 2022, I was at nationals at Laguna Seca, and I won in spec E46 time trial class,” he recalls. “After that, Bad Dragon was like, ‘Hey, we want to sponsor the whole next season.’ It created a different dynamic.”
That sponsorship from Bad Dragon—a company specializing in fantasy adult toys—has continued through the 2023, 2024, and now 2025 seasons. The unconventional partnership seems fitting for a driver whose entire career has been about breaking molds.
THE UNEXPECTED PHYSICAL DEMANDS
When Blue first began racing, he was surprised by the physical requirements—particularly when he tried high-performance karting.
“When I started racing go-karts, like the 100cc and 125cc race karts—not the ones you do at a rental place—you pull two Gs in a little thing with no suspensions. You feel everything on the ground, and after ten minutes, you literally feel like a truck hit you,” he says with a laugh.
Even in his BMW, with slick 245s, he can pull one and a half Gs in the corners and under braking. The physical demands have been a learning experience, but Blue’s 16 years of Brazilian jiu-jitsu training have helped him develop the stamina, focus, and physical resilience needed for competitive racing.
“The day after, two days later, you realize how many muscles your body actually has that you never work out, that you never realized you have, and then you start hurting. It starts from the neck muscles, the core muscles—everything.”
THE TRACK RECORD
With approximately 150 races under his belt—including endurance racing and events before he owned his own car—Blue has quickly built an impressive resume. He estimates he’s reached the podium roughly 50 times and notched about 20-25 wins.
“Last season I had 7 wins. The season before, another 6, so far this season, I’m 9 for 9.” he says, revealing the consistency that’s made him a force to be reckoned with on the track.
His race craft has evolved significantly over his competitive career. “The longer I’m competitively racing, the better my mindset becomes,” he explains. “Three years ago, I would be in lap number two or three, see an opportunity to pass the car in front of me, and stick my nose in—maybe have contact and DNF. Now I know I can wait until the end of the race or the last lap and then do a risky move if I have to.”
This strategic evolution reflects a driver who’s not just fast but increasingly savvy. “I see the bigger picture of the championship. A win was not in it today, but second place throughout the season is going to win me the championship versus a DNF.”
THE ARTISTIC VISION
The striking wrap on Blue’s BMW wasn’t just slapped on for show. While his main sponsor Bad Dragon provided their specific graphics, Blue himself developed the overall design concept with the dark base color, neon yellow accents, and M3 color references at the door and front of the vehicle.
“When I have a new race car, I sit at home, print out the templates, and then I just start painting it,” he explains. Blue sent his sketch to Wrap Legends, who executed his vision perfectly.
This DIY design approach speaks to Blue’s hands-on involvement in every aspect of his racing program. It’s not just about getting behind the wheel—it’s about creating a complete racing identity.
THE NEED FOR SPEED: A LIFELONG PURSUIT
Blue’s thrill-seeking nature has been evident throughout his life. From ski racing as a young kid in Austria to canyon racing in his youth, skydiving, and becoming a scuba dive master, he’s always sought controlled adrenaline.
“I like things, the thrill, that are still in a way predictable,” he clarifies. “Would I do something that is completely risky where the chance of dying is 50%? Probably not.”
Now, he channels that energy into racing—a safer outlet for his speed obsession. When asked to choose between low riders and muscle cars, Blue doesn’t hesitate: “Muscle car all the way.” And while he appreciates modern paddle shifters in supercars, he insists nothing beats a manual stick shift in a classic like a Porsche 911.
The Road Ahead
Blue’s racing ambitions continue to grow. His current focus is on an upcoming race at Willow Springs—”my favorite racetrack,” he notes—where he aims to qualify fast, win, and break the track record of 1:30.2 by going sub-1:30.
But his ultimate dream extends much further. “My dream race would be to participate one time in my lifetime in the 24-hour race of Daytona,” he shares. “I told my wife nine years ago, ‘I think I can do it.’ It doesn’t matter which car or which class.”
Beyond Daytona, he mentions the 24 Hours of Le Mans as another “absolute highlight” he hopes to reach someday. “Never say never,” he says with a confidence that suggests he just might make it happen.
BALANCING TWO WORLDS
While racing has become an increasingly important part of Blue’s life, he’s also expanding his horizons in mainstream entertainment. Over the past three years, he’s appeared in two episodes of the long-running soap opera General Hospital and had a small role in the second season of “Monsters,” which focused on the Menendez brothers case.
“It seems like an easy transition from adult to mainstream, but at the same time, it isn’t because you have to deal with the stigma,” he explains. “But everything that you learn in 25 years being on camera, making movies, learning scripts, jumping into many different roles—it definitely helps to just switch it on and deliver on a mainstream set because of the experience.”
This ability to reinvent himself while drawing on past experience seems to be a recurring theme for Blue. From adult entertainment to racing to mainstream acting, he continues to evolve while staying true to his passions.
As we were wrapping up our time with Blue, his focus was already on the next race, the next challenge. Blue raced at Willow Springs in April and pushed his BMW to another victory. For a man who’s always setting new goals, the finish line is just another starting point.
