A Quarter-Century of X5: Celebrating BMW’s Silver Anniversary Edition

The year was 1999. SUVs rapidly conquered American roads, with Jeep’s Cherokee and Ford’s Explorer leading the charge. Even the Germans couldn’t resist the trend, with Mercedes entering the fray with the ML in 1997 and Porsche joining the party with the Cayenne in 2002. BMW, ever the innovator, wasn’t going to be left behind.

Enter the X5, the Bavarian automaker’s answer to the burgeoning SUV market. The first X5 rolled off the production line in North Carolina in 1999, and nearly three million units later, it’s become a cornerstone of the BMW brand.

To celebrate this momentous 25th anniversary, BMW is pulling out all the stops with the X5 Silver Anniversary Edition. This special edition boasts a head-turning presence, starting with the standard Lime Rock Grey metallic paint job. Black chrome accents from the Extended Shadowline Trim are offset by the sleek aluminum trim elements included in the Sport Design Package.

Open the doors and you’re greeted by a luxurious interior tailored to your taste. Choose from Black, Cognac, Coffee, or Silverstone Sensafin upholstery, all paired with sporty seats and a touch of sophistication thanks to the carbon fiber trim.

But the X5 Silver Anniversary Edition isn’t just about looks. It’s also packed with capability. The standard xOffroad Package equips the SUV with four-wheel air suspension, a mechanically locking rear differential, and skid plates, making it ready to tackle any terrain.

Arriving in dealerships this August, the X5 Silver Anniversary Edition is more than just a car; it’s a celebration of a legacy. It’s a testament to BMW’s enduring commitment to performance, luxury, and innovation, all wrapped up in a package ready for anything life throws your way.
