For car enthusiasts and collectors worldwide, ICON 4×4 is a name that’s hard to miss. Their founder and CEO, Jonathan Ward, has taken the Southern Californian builder to legendary status by creating some of the finest hand-built vehicles out there. Recently, he celebrated his 100th custom Bronco build, a one-of-a-kind New School ICON Bronco 100.
“It’s pretty incredible to think about how far we’ve come over the last 100 Bronco builds. Passion for the Bronco has not waned in the slightest, and ICON takes great pride in the challenge presented by constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with each project for our clients,” comments ICON 4×4 founder and CEO Jonathan Ward. “The ICON Bronco 100 is a unique blending of new and old, a balance between safety and refinement with capability while presenting an analog responsibility for the driver. If you want to have an authentic, real driving experience, new vehicles just don’t offer the same feeling. The ICON Bronco 100 allows drivers to be in control. That’s a rare, beautiful feeling.”
The donor vehicle for the ICON Bronco 100 is a 1974 6-cylinder Bronco. For the build, ICON 4×4 implemented the company’s popular New School design package alongside several other impressive upgrades. The Bronco 100 has a powerful 430 horsepower Coyote 5.0 Mustang GT engine paired with an automatic 4-speed overdrive transmission and Atlas twin-stick shifter via a two-speed transfer case. A ceramic-coated stainless-steel exhaust system provides a deep engine growl and gives bystanders an audible clue to the type of power the Bronco wields.
To help control the power, ICON hydro-boosted sport brakes by Brembo were fitted. It also features sport coilover suspension with Fox racing shocks, Eibach coil springs, and tunable sway bars for traversing any terrain. ARB air locking differentials with a dedicated air compressor provide better traction when needed, while Dana differentials lead to a thrilling drive feel. The exterior is painted with a beautiful Cactus Gray color used on the new Broncos and finished with Volcanic Black coating on the trim. ICON’s custom New School wheels add a touch of modern sophistication to the Bronco 100, finishing the truck off beautifully.
On the interior, ICON teamed with legendary upholstery provider Spinneybeck to integrate a durable, low-maintenance leather that keeps the feel and smell of traditional leather without any of the tedious maintenance. Ward then joined the leather with an innovative new silicon material that looks like a traditional weave fabric but is extremely durable and easy to clean.
The front dashboard incorporates stainless laser-cut machined black aluminum dash details throughout with a sleek Dakota digital gauge cluster that easily displays important vehicle information. An in-dash HVAC unit from Vintage Air allows both driver and passengers to ride in total comfort, while power windows deftly tucked beneath vintage hand-crank window handles serve as the perfect blend of timeless design and modern technology.
Custom ICON sport pedals and leather-wrapped armrests and steering wheel further add an unprecedented level of luxury. The front two seats allow for optional seat heaters, while the two-passenger bench in the rear is completely removable to be used as needed. ICON continued the Volcanic Black detail theme from exterior to interior with a custom roll bar and headliner in the same colorway. An Elevated Audio system provides entertainment on the road and off, while the dash allows for navigation and full Bluetooth compatibility.
The ICON Bronco 100 is a stunning work of art that showcases classic and modern design. They start at $200,000, and you can check them out and their other builds at www.icon4x4.com.
