BMW gives us a look into the future at CES 2022 with their BMW iX Flow featuring color-changing E Ink. The color-changing E Ink digitizes the vehicle’s body, making it capable of changing its shade at the driver’s prompting.

The fluid color changes are made possible by a specially developed body wrap, tailored precisely to the contours of BMW’s all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle. When stimulated by electrical signals, the electrophoretic technology brings different color pigments to the surface, causing the body to take on the desired coloration.
The innovative E Ink technology opens completely new ways of changing the vehicle’s appearance in line with the driver’s preferences or the environmental conditions. The technology thus offers unprecedented potential for customization in exterior design.
